Hi John [and representatives],
I am trying to license a song of yours for an artist's project I'm managing. I was able to get a 50% license via Harry Fox Agency, but I believe I need to pay you directly for the other 50%. Who should I connect with regarding this? Thank you for your help!

Hello from Boston, MA USA...

Have loved you music since picking up Shakespeare Alabama in a record shop in Soho back in the early 90s. Never knew then how much I dug your music but I've managed to acquire most of it to date. I'm a fan of the same music that influenced you guys and was fortunate enough to have seen Moby Grape at one time. Living in the USA doesn't bode well for me to catch a DPW performance but I am willing to travel. I went to Manchester UK 3 years back to see Tony Hadley, so it's not beyond possibility that I would travel to London or even Leicester to see DPW. Call it a "bucket list" item if you will. So would there perhsps be some shows in the future that don't yet appear on the website that you could inform me about?

Hello there! This is a shot in the dark, I know...I'm a musician based out of Dallas, Texas. I've recently completed an album of cover songs I've always loved & "All the Myths on Sunday" is one of them. I had my manager, Katie, contact Harry Fox agency to get all the publishing stuff cleared & sorted out but Myths is one of only 2 songs we did that isn't administered by good ole Harry. I was wondering if you could please pass this message along to someone in the Diesel Park camp that could help us sort this out! Thank you! Salim

PS: Been a devoted fan for many years now.

Hi. My first experience of DPW was at my first ever live gig with my brother, It was at the Sheffield city hall and you were supporting Big Country may have been about 89?. Although it was Big Country I went to see I came away that night totally amazed by your sound and the songs from which I didn't know then were from Shakespeare Alabama, from that night I have always been a great fan of your music and Shakespeare Alabama is still one of my all time Favourite album's a record which I never tire of hearing, its a classic. Thanks for the memories, music and that special night in Sheffield.

Roger Gorman.

I was a big fan of the band and thought Decency had some great tracks. I have been checking out footage of the band. My favourite is Safe life, safe times. Great guitar and lyrics, just fantastic. Just a show of support from me really and to let you know your music is still appreciated. I hope that you tour again and if you have any information on gigs I would like to know. Thanks, Nick

Hi Mike ..The line up has remained pretty stable since forming in the early eighties although the current drummer is a new member having only been with us for nine years. He replaced Dave Anderson in 2006 who himself replaced original drummer Moth Smith in 1990. Main guitarist Rick Willson and singer John Butler have been constant throughout. Bass player Geoff Beavan left between 1994-1999 , being replaced by Ian Michie, but has been a permanent member ever since his return. Second guitarist Rich Barton was with the band from 1988 to 1995 happily rejoining in 2014. The band has released eight official albums and various compilations since their debut Shakespeare Alabama in 1989. Above These Things was recorded at their own Barkby Road studios in Leicester in 1986 one year before signing to Food Records and then on to EMI in late 1987. The song was really a demo and the version you have is the only one they ever recorded. It is certainly one the band itself regard as a really good track. Thanks getting in touch it is much appreciated.

I am primarily a fan of the band since reading about you in Bucketfull of Brains magazine back in the eighties. I got into promoting live bands by complete accident. I have been promoting since Sept 2010 and have hosted 38 shows so far in Stockton on Tees near Middlesbrough mainly at this venue: - I would love to host you in 2015 if it was possible? I seem to have discovered that once upon of time there was a few live albums around. one being live at The Charlotte (circa '93) and another one being at Sheffield University (circa '89). I think like myself a lot of people would love to hear such live stuff from the DPW archives! Would be great to see these available! Would this be possible or is it in the pipe line of plans to make some live albums available?

Have you recorded any recent gigs from your yearly shindig at The Musician maybe? The last 4-5 years of getting along to your yearly Christmas shindig have been crackers! I look forward to seeing you in December if not before.

I remember walking in to the QM Union in Glasgow in Nov '88 for a Godfathers gig and hearing the support band - it was the opening riffs to "When The Hoodoo Comes" and I rushed past the bar to find out who was making this glorious sound.
I was instantly hooked.
I've been preaching the virtues of this massively talented and inspirational band ever since.
Please come back to Scotland for a live date..........

Hi Guys, John / Rick.

big Fan guys since Robin 2 Bilston 3 years & Worcester Huntingdon Hall, Byrdsz Gig. got into your DPW stuff after the Robin, love many of the albums, great songs, harmoies, production. Been over to the Musician a couple of times & maybe there on 20 th Dec.
Question ; Big / Special Birthday Party - May 31st 2015 & fancy doing a 'stylish' night. Thinking about asking you guys to perform over here in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire for that occassion. Would it be feasable ? I could get a nice indoor hall @ Lickey or outdoor @ Jinny Ring, Hanbury. Would like a compilation of Byrds / CSNY / some of your own material. What do you think ? Do you perform @ private party's ? If so any idea of charges ?
Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Guys, back in the early and mid eighties I was singing with a band called 'Shoot The Moon', doing the London circuit, as we all did in those days playing the usual toilets (mean fiddler, The Rock Garden etc.) Everywhere we went we would see posters for DPW and after sound check and pre-set, there would pretty much always be DPW played over the house sound system usually "All the Myths." What a track... it just rang out ! still rings out now !! I am sure we supported you on one of your dates in town, can't remember where, but that's not the reason for my message. All I know is I was gutted I wasn't singing with you guys .....Shakespeare Alabama has to be one of the most beautiful, underrated and heart-felt albums of all-time ! I would love to see you give it some again live...why don't you come down to Bournemouth and do a gig ?

I remember seeing you at Leicester Poly when I was in the lower sixth in about 1989. I loved Shakespeare Alabama. Even my mum listened to the album in her car, when I left the tape in there. So, 24 years on and living in South Korea, I wondered whether I could buy the album - long lost, or decayed - on iTunes and I could. Here I Stand must be one of my favourite songs of all time. Listening to the album today brought back so many memories. Many thanks. Mark

Hello Lads,

Had a road trip with my best pal a couple of weeks ago and fetched up in Salisbury on a Friday night. By chance we went into a large bar with live music..........'The Zucchinis' they were called, a covers band, fine musicians all, including a female bassist.

Got talking to the guitarist, and asked him why they didn't play any Lizzy. He replied that you need 2 guitarists to do the material justice, and he wouldn't do a half-arsed job; and further, that two guitarists is the best combination for a rock band.

I agreed and said that that philosophy was outlined by Diesel Park West 25yrs ago..........his eyes lit up, and we yakked on about our mutual enthusiasm for DPW.

Any gigs lined up for August? Saw you in Brum in 1989 just before I emigrated. Will be returning to UK in 3-4yrs, make sure you're still going when I get back.

All the very best.

Hi. Just wanted to thank you all for a great gig at the Musician on Friday night. The sound was spot on, the set list excellent and varied, and the band were on fire. Chatting to some fellow Diesel fans after the gig, they thought you' d rarely played better. Hi John
Travelling down aftr work from Preston so hopefully the roads will be kind on friday. Looking forward to whatever you play...old and new. But if you could throw in 'people get lucky', that would be nice. I have.... and I will be with my fiancee! cheers Carl

About 4 weeks ago I purchased the latest album by Paypal but have not received a download link or anything.

Please can you advise me of the procedure to access the album or if you need any further information from me.

Thank you

Hi, traveling down from Durham again for the Musician gig. A couple of years ago you guys played 'King Fluid' as a request from me, which was fantastic - made my year to be honest! . Another number from 'Flipped' which I can't recall hearing live is 'Endless Chains' - great song from a great album.

Cheers, David

Hi John
How about for the 21st

Eastern Zone
Poison from the ink well
Everything works both ways
or your great cover of rock n roll woman by the Springfield never recorded but it still sticks in my memory from a gig in Colchester in the mid 1990's

Best wishes
